The Amazing Bog Coat

All the Green Things Turned Brown

The fossil fish and leaf print, and all the colors of decay, were used to express sorrow at the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound. The hot pink is the color of one of the chemicals used in the cleanup, and provides a contrast between life and health (pink cheeks, rosy disposition) and the dead and dying wildlife. I also used a print of old buildings to indicate corporate and governmental bureaucracy surrounding the event. Here is the front, followed by several details.
