The Mandalas: Light One Candle

November 2003:
Again, time passed, and I was still unsure of my participation in the project. I kept seeing circles, but was not moved to work with the wedges or curves suggested. Then it happened again. This time I knew the whole song. It was "Light One Candle" (by Peter Yarrow, performed by Peter, Paul, and Mary) and is about the candles on a menorah. Before long I had another bright circle on a dark background. This time the symbol was a candle, a representation of the Trinity: the wax for Christ, the flame for the Father, and the heat for the Holy Spirit. Again, I wasn't sure. Was this a mandala? I realized that what was bothering me was that there were no central points of concentration on either quilt.
