The usual approach to making a beaded quilt is to make the quilt and then add the beading on top. This makes perfect sense, and allows for exact placement of the beads. But what if you reversed the process and did the beadwork first, and then designed an appropriate background for it? I love making heavily bead encrusted medallions, and spent several months producing an assortment to play with. What fun to try to figure out the best possible background to show off the medallion! This "reverse engineering" approach was a shot in the arm after so much work in the more usual method.
