Many cultures throughout history have worn symbolic pieces to ward off evil or illness; to insure luck or prosperity. I leave the interpretation of these talismans to the wearer.
| Bead embroidery with glass beads, carnelian chips, and scallop shell from the Gulf of Mexico. Created for a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain with the Grünewald Guild, on which the pilgrims were readily identified by the scallop shells they wore. 1999 | Bead embroidery and peyote stitch.
